"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader." -John Quincy Adams
The Honors English curriculum is designed to expose students to the tenets of academic excellence and leadership which are the cornerstones of the WYWLA experience. Each course is designed to expose students to literary analysis by reading “deliberately and thoroughly, taking time to understand a work’s complexity, to absorb its richness of meaning, and to analyze how meaning is embodied in literary form. In addition to considering a work’s literary artistry, students reflect on the social and historical values it reflects and embodies.” Careful dedication to textual detail provides a foundation for interpretation while strengthening the practical skills of critical thinking and expository writing. Students will also participate in seminars that will allow them to think critically and communicate effectively about ideas. This will be done by focusing on classical texts which address relevant ideas, values, and themes.
